Rent a jailbroken iPhone

A real iPhone 8 or iPhone X on iOS 16, jailbroken rootful or rootless, running on its own mobile SIM and used from your browser. What you get, why these models, and when a jailbreak is not worth it.

Updated

The short answer

MKY Remote rents jailbroken iPhones from a small, separate pool: iPhone 8 and iPhone X kept on iOS 16, jailbroken rootful or rootless, each dedicated to one customer and running on its own mobile SIM. You control the phone live from any browser, and we keep the jailbreak working. Rentals start at $65 per iPhone for 30 days; ask about availability before you rent.

A real phone, jailbroken in our rack

The photo is one of our own iPhones being jailbroken, with its boot log streaming on the screen. Nothing here is simulated: you rent the physical phone, on its own SIM, for the whole rental.

The phones in this pool are kept on iOS 16, the version the container setup needs, and they stay with one customer at a time, so your apps and logins are where you left them.

Why the iPhone 8 and iPhone X

Both use Apple's A11 chip, which has a flaw in its boot ROM, the first code the phone runs when it starts. The flaw, known as checkm8, was published in 2019, and because the boot ROM is read-only, Apple cannot patch it with a software update. That is why these phones can still be jailbroken on iOS 16, the newest version they run.

Newer iPhones rely on software exploits that Apple closes in updates, so jailbreaking one means freezing it on an old iOS version and waiting for a tool to appear. For a pool that has to stay jailbroken month after month, the iPhone 8 and X are the dependable choice.

The trade-off is that the jailbreak is semi-tethered: it stays active until the phone restarts. After a restart the phone boots normally, without the jailbreak, until it is re-applied. On our phones we re-apply it, which is why a rented jailbroken iPhone should never be restarted from your side.

Rootful or rootless

Two kinds of jailbreak. You choose; we set it up.

RootfulRootless
What it changesThe system files become writable, so tweaks and tools can change them directlySystem files stay untouched; everything the jailbreak adds lives in one separate folder
StrengthsFull filesystem access for advanced tweaks and toolingLighter and more stable, and works across more iOS versions
TweaksRuns older tweaks and tools written for the classic layoutMost tweaks updated in recent years ship rootless builds
Choose it whenYour tooling has to write outside the jailbreak's own folderYou want containers and everyday tweaks with the least to go wrong

What you can run on it

A jailbroken phone, plus everything a normal rental includes.

App containers

Each account gets its own container: its own login state, cache and stored files. You choose the container from the app icon before the app opens, and the app cannot see the others. Tell us which apps and how many accounts, and we set the containers up for you. How containers compare with the other ways to run several accounts.

Tweaks and your own tooling

Rootful gives full filesystem access for advanced tweaks and tooling. Tell us what you plan to install before you rent, so we can confirm it works on these models and on iOS 16.

The same browser control

Live screen with full touch and keyboard control in any browser, uploads straight into the phone's gallery, multiview for several phones at once, and team sub-accounts with access to specific phones only.

A real mobile SIM

Like every phone we rent, it runs on its own mobile SIM with real carrier data. There is no VPN, proxy or datacenter IP in the path.

Rent one or jailbreak your own

Both are reasonable. They suit different people.

Jailbreak your own

You need an iPhone 8 or X, or another phone with an A11 chip or older, and for most methods a computer to run the jailbreak and to re-apply it after every restart. It costs little beyond the phone and teaches you a lot, if the phone can live on your desk and you are around when it restarts.

Rent one from us

We keep the phone jailbroken, re-apply the jailbreak when needed, and keep it charged and online on its own SIM. You use it from anywhere in a browser, alone or with your team, and hand it back when the project ends.

When a jailbroken iPhone is not the right choice

If you only want to switch between a few accounts, the built-in account switcher needs no jailbreak at all. See the four ways to run multiple Instagram accounts on one iPhone.

Some apps check for a jailbreak and refuse to run or switch features off. If an app you rely on does that, a jailbroken phone is the wrong tool, so check before you rent.

If you need a current iOS version or newer hardware, a standard rental on an iPhone SE 2020, XR, 11, 12 mini or 13 fits better; see how remote iPhone rental works. The newer models also stream video-heavy apps such as TikTok more smoothly than the iPhone 8 and X.

Whatever you run, each platform's rules still apply, and our terms make following them the customer's responsibility.

Common questions

Can I rent a jailbroken iPhone?

Yes. MKY Remote keeps a small pool of jailbroken iPhone 8 and iPhone X phones on iOS 16, rootful or rootless. Each one is dedicated to one customer, runs on its own mobile SIM and is controlled from your browser. Ask on Telegram before you rent.

Which iPhones and iOS versions are jailbroken?

iPhone 8 and iPhone X, kept on iOS 16. Their A11 chip has a boot ROM flaw, known as checkm8, that Apple cannot patch with a software update, so they can still be jailbroken on iOS 16, the newest version they run.

Should I choose a rootful or a rootless jailbreak?

Rootful gives full filesystem access for advanced tweaks and tooling. Rootless leaves the system files untouched and is lighter and more stable. If you are not sure, tell us what you plan to run and we will choose with you.

What happens if a jailbroken iPhone restarts?

The jailbreak does not survive a restart: the phone comes back without it until it is re-applied. We re-apply it for you, so do not restart a rented jailbroken iPhone yourself.

Can I run several Instagram accounts in containers?

Yes. Each account gets its own container with its own login state, cache and stored files, chosen from the app icon before the app opens. We set the containers up for you, and we recommend about three accounts per phone.

Do I need to install anything?

No. You use the jailbroken iPhone in any modern browser, on desktop or mobile, with nothing to download.

How much does it cost to rent a jailbroken iPhone?

From $65 per iPhone for 30 days. Jailbroken iPhones are a separate, smaller pool, and the final price depends on how many phones you take and what you need set up.
